The 3M™ Protecta® Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) extends and retracts with the user as they perform their work task. Should a fall occur, a speed sensing brake system activates, stopping the fall and reducing the forces imposed on the user to safe levels. Using advanced motion capture technology, we studied the forces applied to the SRL during typical at-height tasks. This data helped us engineer a new arrest mechanism that can more easily detect the difference between a fall and normal work motion, tailoring a SRL for your work application.
